Empress Advertising: A doomed courtship
We’ve had a lot of experience with advertising agencies — on both sides. On the audience side, we’ve been scammed by advertising agencies more times than we can remember. (Hasn’t everyone?)
And on the advertising agency side, for years we contracted ourselves out to help develop their “campaigns” for them. (It’s telling that advertising agencies call them “campaigns”, isn’t it? A term borrowed from the world of politics — which has elevated dishonoring its audience to an art form. And we’re all aware of the horror story the audience repeats to itself and each other about politicians, aren’t we?)
